Installation configuration
The installer will ask you a few questions, some are VERY important. This page will try to give you some help about them.
The installer for Sentora is greatly improved from the installer used by ZPanel
Select your country from the pseudo-graphic interface (Ubuntu) or lists (CentOs).
It is the domain name you will use to access the control panel after installation (URL of the panel). This domain will be reserved to the panel only. You can later change the panel subdomain (see Changing Sentora sub-domain), but any mistake will disable you to access the panel, or even may lock the whole server in case of domain conflict, so take time to consider and understand BEFORE validating !
It MUST be a sub-domain of your main domain. Enter the complete sub-domain name. (example : admin.my-domain.tld)
The installer will check the sub-domain validity : it MUST be setup in DNS (and propagated) PRIOR to run the installer.
FOR ADVANCED ADMIN ONLY: if you want to install a local server for local usage only (testing/development), you will not be able to reach it by domain until you setup a local dns (usually in your router settings). You can enter any main domain and subdomain you want (Ex: panel.nodomain.com).
The installer will use the public IP it found from a command sent to Sentora API website. It should match your external IP.
FOR ADVANCED ADMIN ONLY: If you are installing a local server for local use (testing/development), you must enter your server's LOCAL NETWORK IP (that is displayed if different from public IP).
If you have any warnings before the final install confirmation, Sentora WILL NOT WORK as a public web server, You will be prompted to confirm that you really want to install Sentora with this configuration.
Confirm ONLY if you are sure that you know what you are doing and at your own risk. You have been warned and WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU EFFICIENTLY.
The installation will start only after this confirmation. If you abort here, you can restart the installer at any time: only a very few changes have been done to your config (installer may have installed timezone and wget packages only).
Once you confirm the install, it will begin the huge install (Sentora, MySQL, Apache, PHP, FTP Server, Mail Server, DNS, etc.). Once it has started DO NOT interrupt the installation process! You MUST wait until it has completely finished and rebooted to make any changes. The installer can only be used once unless you reinstall the OS!
(We are working on an uninstall script and a pre-install script that will help prepare you server OS by removing any programs and services that would prevent Sentora from installing.)
- You have to open all ports required by the server (see Setting up your firewall). The procedure depends on the firewall you want to use.
- if you install the server behind a router that you manage, you have to open all required ports and forward them to your server's local IP (the IP it has in your network). This procedure depends on your modem/router.
- When completed, all core passwords are stored in the file: /root/passwords.txt
- Finally, you MUST apply any emergency patches listed on this page: Security updates and patches
